I’ve been thinking a lot about change lately — not the big, dramatic ones although they can be interesting too, but the small ones you choose to make or avoid completely. The ones you don’t feel ready for, the ones you smash, and the ones that never quite make it to the top of the to‑do list.

Last year, I lost my best friend. I won’t pretend to know how to talk about that yet, but its life changing and shifted something in me. It made me notice all the things I’ve quietly postponed. I still hear her voice saying, “you just have to believe in yourself” and “live.” Without even realising it at the time, it made me look at the changes I’d wanted to make but never had and see how precious and fleeting our time is. When you go through that, you have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and it can be really surprising what lands.

So I thought I’d have a go at sharing my thoughts, learning something new as I attempt to keep up with basic technology, fully aware I’ll have that cringe moment if anyone actually reads my words. It’s not a grand reinvention, new year plan or life strategy but a small space for a bit of creativity. If it helps others find ways to live a life that feels less rushed and chaotic then even better.

I don’t know exactly where this will go or what I’ll say, but here’s a first step. If you’ve been putting something off, why not take a step towards it? Something small, doable and celebrate the little win.
